Horton Plains National Park is a hauntingly beautiful highland plateau, draped in mist and ancient cloud forest, where Sri Lanka’s most dramatic natural drop awaits at World’s End, a near-vertical escarpment plunging over 800 metres to the lowland plains far below. The park’s classic circular hiking trail passes through rolling grasslands and ancient montane forest before arriving at the picturesque cascade of Baker’s Falls. Early morning arrivals are rewarded with the clearest views before the mist rolls in, making the pre-dawn drive from Nuwara Eliya very much part of the experience.
